Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Box Truck At Nassau Intersection

An 86-year-old man was hospitalized in serious condition after being struck by a box truck while crossing a busy intersection on Long Island, police said.

According to Nassau County Police investigators, the pedestrian was crossing at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, when he was struck by the truck.

The driver, a 34-year-old area man, remained at the scene to assist detectives with the investigation, police noted, while the pedestrian suffered severe trauma and was transported to an area hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
